More than that, she was a daughter, Godmother and friend to a lot of people. The Queen of Camden leaves more than just a boozy north London hub in mourning - her fans across the world are grieving.
To die at 27, eerily like so many music icons before her, is a crying shame.
She has already written enough timeless material to leave a proud musical legacy - which is testament to her incredible talent.
